Production Controller

Location; Chertsey

Reporting To: Operations Support Manager

Purpose:

The Production Controller sits within Operations and reports into the Operations Support Manager.  The main function of the role is to ensure the successful delivery of product to the customer in line with company, legal and customer requirements.

The role is responsible for maintaining Key Performance Indicator's and report accordingly. Through attending required meetings, following up on actions in to meet deadlines and ensuring timely and appropriate communication.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage expectations, demonstrate a full understanding of project requirements and ensure delivery on time, to cost and quality whilst managing production tasks to improve runtime.
  • Where appropriate, identify areas for negotiation and prioritize accordingly to ensure all product requirements (e.g. technical, commercial, delivery etc.), are clearly understood and documented.
  • Liaise with Operations Support Manager on scheduling, resourcing and engaging with the wider operations team to provide the smooth running of the production facility.
  • Ensure that stock requirements are supported, accurately accounted for and replenished.
  • Provide Production department compliance with legislation, standards and governance e.g. HSE, ESD. 
  • Monitor performance identifying issues, risks or opportunities and report where necessary.
  • Plan and monitor movement of materials in production cycles to ensure continuous operations and providing updates, to the Operations Supply Manager, Projects and escalate issues as and when necessary.
  • Provide information on costs, hours, obsolescence, deviation and failure performance to the Operations Supply Manager and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Recommend and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective team building, decision making, communication and conflict management whilst fostering a good team spirit.
  • Show a positive can-do attitude with adaptive thinking & behavior, through consideration to the needs of the team.
  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders through demonstrating commercial awareness.
  • Deputise for the Operations Support Manager during absences.
  • Complete other tasks specified within your skills, experience and capabilities from time to time

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Min 2 yrs. experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of electronic engineering and production standards,
  • Good level of education GCSE or equivalent in Math and English.
  • Good level of common sense, ability to self-motivate and achieve results.
  • Ability to create, influence and foster good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through excellent communication.
  • Strong verbal & written skills with ability to provide briefs/reports
  • Ability to work to deadlines and produce accurate work
  • IT literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
