Drumgrange Awarded Naval GPS (Navfix) Contract for Royal Navy

November 2012

Drumgrange announces that it has been awarded a multi-million pound contract to develop, manufacture, install and provide through-life support for primary Naval GPS System which will be installed across a large variety of platforms and shore facilities.

The Contract has been awarded by the Communications and Situational Awareness (CSA) team in the UK MoD's Defence Equipment and Support Organisation to provide a direct replacement for the current legacy GPS Receivers. The new system will incorporate the latest SAASM military GPS receiver technology and will initially interface to the platforms' existing navigation and combat systems; however Drumgrange's solution includes additional network interfaces for integration to emerging open architecture Combat and Platform Management Systems.

The System will be developed at Drumgrange's Design and Development Facility at Chertsey with platform integration work being lead by the Company's Naval Integration Teams based at Portland. In-Service Support will also be delivered from the Portland site by the Company's Managed Services Teams which are providing in-service support for several other similar Naval Electronic and Software Systems.

Colin Mead, Business Development Manager (Maritime) at Drumgrange commented:

"This was a long and hard fought competition against the world's largest Defence Contractors and the Company is delighted to be working with DE&S and the Royal Navy on this important project. The project is strategically important for Drumgrange as it aligns with the Company's core technology interests and our core business of providing cost effective, high quality services and equipment to meet demanding front line military operations. The win is important for the whole Company as we will be utilising the Navy System Design expertise at Chertsey coupled with the extensive platform integration expertise at Portland".
